The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Samarra Organizes a Scientific Competition for Fourth-Year Students in Comparative Literature

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Samarra organized an extracurricular activity represented by holding a scientific competition for fourth-year students within the Comparative Literature course. The competition was presented by Lecturer Dr. Zaina Waleed Khalid, Lecturer Dr. Marwa Alawi Salloum, and Lecturer Dr. Abbas Al-Aibi Faleh, with the aim of enhancing students’ knowledge and developing their critical abilities in reading poetic epics and analyzing their intellectual and humanistic themes.

The competition aims to develop students’ ability to understand poetic epics and comprehend their intellectual and aesthetic dimensions, as well as train them to analyze their main themes, which revolve around the values of heroism, human conflict, and the defense of values and principles, as themes that have constituted a fundamental محور in epic literature throughout the ages.

In addition, the competition included answering a set of analytical questions, in addition to presenting a brief presentation explaining the most prominent epic themes and the artistic structure of the studied texts, with a focus on deep text comprehension skills, accuracy of analysis, and the ability to link the events of the epic with their intellectual and humanistic implications, in a way that contributes to enhancing students’ analytical skills and developing their academic abilities in the field of comparative literature.
